Handheld wind and weather meter with built-in ballistic calculator debuts as a complete all- in-one shooting tool that delivers first-round hits and long-range confidence.

Nielsen-Kellerman (NK), creators and manufacturers of Kestrel® Weather and Environmental Meters, will introduce the all new Kestrel 5700 Ballistics Weather Meter at the 2018 SHOT show in Las Vegas. Visit the Kestrel booth (#3246) to see the full line of ballistics meters as well as view demonstrations of Kestrel LiNK® wireless capabilities that allow shooters to easily connect to a mobile device and compatible laser range finders.

Attempting long range-shots can be intimidating and often involves multiple tools, accessories, and manual calculations to successfully get on target. With the new Kestrel 5700 Ballistics Weather Meter ($399), shooters at any experience level can immediately improve hit percentage at long range thanks to the unit’s accurate ballistics solutions and long range training aids. The lightweight, portable meter measures and accounts for wind, altitude and all onsite environmental and ballistic variables to calculate an accurate aim point for long range shots. Whether hunting, competing or just entering shooting sports - stretch your reach with the all-in-one rugged tool built to take the guesswork out of long- range shooting:

  • Environmental Capture adjusts for actual conditions wherever you are, then automatically updates the ballistic solution -- eliminating the need to re-zero when moving to a different altitude
  • Easy Mode guides shooters step-by-step in using the unit for a simplified learning curve and a more convenient getting-started experience
  • Muzzle Velocity Truing calculates effective bullet speed without a chronograph for improved accuracy at long range
  • Target Range Estimation automatically calculates the range to unknown targets by entering the size and MOA or Mil measurement of target as seen through the reticle
  • Target Lead Correction calculates windage and lead corrections for moving targets
  • LiNK Connectivity provides wireless communication to mobile devices and compatible laser range finders

The Kestrel 5700 Elite with Applied Ballistics® Weather Meter with LiNK [$709] delivers on ultimate accuracy and effectiveness even out to extended long-range targets. This integrated complete weather meter packs unique features for the most demanding long range shooters and the full power of the advanced Applied Ballistics solver. Extreme long- range features such as drop scale factor calibration, a built-in range card, new Multi Target screen and access to the complete Applied Ballistics custom drag model library gives you proven firing solutions over maximum distance. When it comes to first-shot confidence, the 5700 Elite model remains the preferred choice of military, law enforcement and the world’s top competitive shooters. All Kestrel meters are drop-proof, dust-proof, waterproof and built to withstand harsh environments without damage.

Kestrel Ballistics Weather Meters are available with LiNK connectivity powered by Bluetooth® Low Energy (optional for Elite model). LiNK connects the Kestrel to the free Kestrel LiNK Ballistics app (iOS and Android), allowing shooters to build and manage gun/bullet profiles and view the Kestrel Elite’s solutions remotely. LiNK also enables shooters to wirelessly connect to compatible laser range finders and scopes.

Visitors to the Kestrel booth will be able to receive special pricing on orders placed at the show for Kestrel Ballistics products as well as hear daily morning and afternoon presentations from speakers. The Morning speaker series will take place at 10:00 AM each day and feature the following presenters: Sam Millard of the popular Panhandle Precision website and Youtube channel; Joseph Burdick, Director of 3Gun Nation Long Range; and Candice Horner, Competitive PRS shooter and online editor of RECOIL Magazine.

The afternoon speaker series will feature Kestrel’s partners in the Kestrel Ballistics line -- Bryan Litz, Nick Vitalbo and Todd Hodnett. These talks are “standing room only” each year at SHOT and will occur each afternoon at 2:00. Subjects range from advances in long range science, tips and tricks for getting the most out of your Kestrel and advice for long range shooters.
