Boothwyn, PA - September 30, 2015

BOOTHWYN, PA — Today, Nielsen-Kellerman (NK) announced the Blue Ocean® Rugged Megaphone will be the official megaphone of the 51st Head Of The Charles® Regatta held October 17-18, 2015 in Cambridge, MA.

The Blue Ocean Megaphone, selected for its rugged reliability, crystal clear sound projection and extreme range, will be used by regatta officials, volunteers and event organizers throughout the two-day rowing competition. Clear voice projection is a critical safety and organizational requirement for this prestigious event and the megaphone will assist in the calling of the boats to the starting line, as well as crowd control.

"We are so pleased that the world’s best-built megaphone will assist in the success and safety of the world’s largest rowing event," said NK CEO Alix James. "Our Blue Ocean Megaphone will make a difference for participants and spectators as they will be able to clearly hear referees or volunteers in the basin area. And, if rain impacts the event, the Blue Ocean Megaphone will keep working, just like the rowers and refs."

The official Head Of The Charles Blue Ocean Megaphone features a Head Of The Charles logo on the cone, custom printed for the regatta.

The Blue Ocean Megaphone is waterproof, comfortable to hold and has the ability to withstand impacts without breaking. It projects exceptionally clear, loud sound with a high-efficiency amplifier and an industry-leading Speech Transmission Index.

Also, the Blue Ocean is an environmentally friendly product with a high-capacity rechargeable battery pack to greatly reduce the environmental cost of disposable batteries consumed by most megaphones. The Blue Ocean Megaphone has been adopted by first responders, Navy SEALs, race organizers, coaches and many others who require a megaphone they can count on in any conditions.

The 51st Head Of The Charles Regatta will host more than 11,000 athletes racing in 55 different events over Thursday and Friday. More than 400,000 spectators are expected to view the event along the banks of the Charles River.

For more than 25 years, NK has been an exhibiting vendor with the Head Of The Charles and is one of the premier suppliers of amplification and timing systems for rowing.

NK is known worldwide for its waterproof speed measurement, timing and audio systems for competitive rowers and other water sport athletes. NK products are designed and built in NK’s award-winning Lean factory in Pennsylvania.
