Soil Moisture Sensor

Water is an essential part of plant growth, but too much or too little can be detrimental. The Ambient Weather WH31SM® Soil Moisture Sensor can help you monitor the moisture levels in your plants' soil so that you know when to water them. Too much moisture can lead to root rot, while too little will cause the leaves to wilt and the plant to die. You can add up to 8 soil moisture sensors to your Ambient Weather WS-2000® and WS-5000® weather station. The Soil Moisture Sensor transmits data once per 72 seconds to the display console and out cloud service

Temperature and Humidity Sensor

Humidity is also important for most houseplants, especially the tropical variety. Whether you have a greenhouse or a room with a humidifier, the Ambient Weather WH31E® Temperature and Humidity Sensor can help you monitor the humidity levels in your plants' environment. Too much humidity can cause mold and mildew to grow, while too little will cause the leaves to brown and drop off.

The WH31E also monitors temperature alongside humidity in up to 8 remote locations using channel dip switches. Most plants, like people, have a temperature preference. They want to stay within the range of 65-75 degrees during the daytime and not drop below 50 at night. If your home is outside of this range, or if you have plants that prefer different conditions, you can use the Ambient Weather WH31E Temperature and Humidity Sensor to monitor the environment around your plants.

Place the sensor in an area of concern and view your measurements in real-time on the LCD display or our cloud hosting service at via one of our compatible weather stations. The WH31E sensor can be used as a stand-alone, but it is not recommended as you will lose the capability to monitor conditions and receive alerts remotely. Our sensor also talks to other IFTTT smart home devices, so you can do things like close blinds or turn down your thermostat when it's too hot.

Outdoor Conditions

Spring is the perfect time of year to invest in a weather station. With warmer weather on the horizon, you'll want to be able to monitor conditions outdoors so you can adjust the conditions in your home accordingly. A weather station can also help you find the perfect conditions for moving houseplants outside. By tracking temperature, humidity, and rainfall, you can ensure that your plants thrive in their new environment.
